Artist Statement: |
|
In Medias Res:
My paintings
reference the natural world. Each series reveals aspects of my
interest in the rhythms of order and disorder in nature, in elements
connected through line, form, and color. There are elements of
microscopic to astronomic, abstract to figurative, and individual in
relation to the universal.
My current
series of paintings, In Medias Res, or in the middle of things,
is about looking back and looking forward. I am interested in the
middle ground between reality and the remembered, chance and the
predetermined, the abstract and the imagined. My process of painting
in multiple transparent glazes and building up the form slowly
correlates with timelessness and the core issues of life and
existence.
